Mr. Sankaran Subramaniam has joined as the Managing Director of Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (OPGC) on 22nd of January, 2014. He also holds the position of Business Leader of AES India (OPGC Business). He is the successor of Mr. Kotharmath Murali who had a brief stint at the position after the resignation of Mr. Venkatachalam K.

Mr.Sankaran had previously worked with AES and held various positions notably as Director (Operations) of OPGC and Regional Technical Director of AES for Asia and Middle East. Mr. Sankaran has more than 30 years experience and worked for several companies like Mirant, National Power, NTPC and GDF Suez. His last assignment was with GDF Suez group as Senior Vice President, Asset Management based in Dubai where he was responsible for developing and leading the Asset management Consultancy business for Tractebel Engineering and the project coordination of their recent acquisition in India. He is a graduate in mechanical engineering from College of Engineering Guindy, Chennai and a recipient of National Merit Scholarship award during his study period 1975-80. A man with positive, flexible and outgoing attitude Mr. Sankaran has been the prime mover behind the success of several mega-size power projects which include a significant process optimization experience in implementing new systems, workflow tools, and business processes.
